California “Avoid DUI” Task Force Campaign in Effect

Across Southern California over the next few days, you will find more numbers of law-enforcement officers as the holiday season’s officially DUI enforcement campaign kicks in. The Avoid DUI Task Force will be conducting operations across the Orange County region.

If you are a motorist in La Habra, Garden Grove, Fountain Valley, Orange, Huntington Beach, or La Habra, you will find sobriety checkpoints and DUI patrols, aimed at getting impaired motorists off the street. There will be DUI patrols and sobriety checkpoints across the Southern California region, and these will continue till New year's Eve.

You can expect officers at these checkpoints, not just looking for signs of alcohol or drug intoxication, but also for drivers with a suspended license. Ensure that you're not driving under the influence of alcohol, not even under the influence of a few alcoholic beverages. During the holiday season, it's very easy to underestimate the amount of alcohol that you have had, especially if you’re party-hopping. Take no chances and let someone who is sober, drive. Also, make sure you are driving with a valid driver’s license.

A DUI conviction over the holidays could mean severe consequences, including jail time, which would effectively ruin your holiday season and other long-term consequences. You can also expect to pay fines and penalties, as well as pay for DUI classes and other expenses. Overall, you are looking at expenses of more than $10,000 for a DUI arrest and conviction in the state of California. Stay safe, be responsible, and take a taxi service if you are too intoxicated to drive.

If you are arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, speak to a Los Angeles DUI defense attorney.
