Teen singing sensation Justin Bieber was recently arrested for DUI and drag racing in Miami. According to news reports, the singer was racing with his friends and was under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time. The singing star and his entourage had apparently blocked off traffic on a stretch of the street in a residential area, to create a racing strip for the musician.
According to police officers, they took quite a while to catch up with the star in his rented Lamborghini due to his excessive speeds. Bieber displayed far from a sunny teen-friendly disposition when police officers finally caught up with his car. According to officers, he was hostile, and was largely incoherent at the time. He swore and abused them, and attempted to resist arrest. Not only was he driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time, but he was also apparently driving without a valid license.
Bieber was administered a field sobriety test, which he failed. He was then taken to a police station.
Unfortunately, the teen singing sensation may have complicated his case by making unnecessary confessions to a police officer. According to the Miami Beach Police Department, at the time of his arrest, the star admitted that he had consumed alcohol, smoked marijuana and also taken some prescription medication just before he decided to drive.
Los Angeles DUI lawyers cannot stress this enough - if you are pulled over for drunk driving, or are arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, you must absolutely avoid talking too much. There is no such thing as too much silence, when you are arrested for DUI.
It is the responsibility of the police to prove that you were under the influence, and when you admit that you consumed alcohol, drugs and prescription medication - as Bieber seems to have done here - you give the police valuable evidence that they can – and definitely will - use against you.
