Drunk Driver Crushes Car through Barricades, Drives on Airport Runway

Reckless driving is one reason why a police officer will suspect you of drunk driving and pull you over. In a recent case, a drunk driver crashed through a barricade, and entered the runway at Regina Airport in Saskatchewan. According to news reports, the man simply crashed through a fence, and ended up driving around the runway.

According to airport officials, the motorist was spotted by airport security soon after midnight. Police were called in, and responded to the site. The motorist had driven right through airport fences, and when police arrived at the scene, they found the abandoned car inside the airport. They then conducted a lengthy search of the airport grounds, and found the man on the property. He was arrested. The man had managed to loiter on the airport grounds for two hours, before being arrested. His conduct did not affect any of/ the flights landing or taking off at the airport.

Police had reason to believe that the man was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol can be a confusing time for most motorists. Not surprisingly, many motorists make mistakes during this crucial time when it's absolutely important that they protect their rights. Those mistakes are often serious enough to jeopardize their DUI case.

In other words, you can begin the process of mounting a legal defense right at the scene of the arrest. Making statements under stress or duress or making confessions because you believe that you will get off with a lower charge or free, is one of the biggest mistakes you can make. Speak as little as possible, and avoid becoming belligerent with officers. Becoming aggressive will only lead to more charges being filed against you.
